“MONTECRISTO”

The most famous comedian and humorist of the twentieth century Colombia, better known as MONTECRISTO, was an actor and comedian, named the best humorist in America.

Born in El Santuario – Antioquia.Colombia in November 24, 1924, son of the greatly  doctor and political leader Baudilio Zuluaga and his wife from Bogotá Mrs. Carolina Zuluaga of Azuero.

That guy who went looking for new ways of Medellin, stopped being the goalie of the selected football Deportivo Cali. Restless, like most, was presented to show one night as a singer but his presentation was a real failure. His foray into the casual humor was therefore asked to spot a joke and did so with great success.

Without meeting the 16 years of age and was a volunteer army. First Battalion was in the Bomboná Rionegro, then in the presidential guard, thanks to Boy Scout when he learned to play drums and horns. Then stopped at the school of military engineers Ibagué as drum major, and ended his career in the Codazzi Battalion of Palmira, while he began his career as a national comedian. All because the oath was to imitate flag officers and storytelling, and laughter of everyone became an example to the squadron.

Participation in the program of radio culture in Cali marked him as the public did silbatina transform their songs by jokes, laughter and their desire to become a doctor in thirst of applause.
In his wanderings he met a trio called the Hernandez brothers they invited him to a feast of bambuco in the theater district of Cali where he met William Gil, the founder of “Caracol”, who took him to the voice of Antioquia. Guillermo Zuluaga in his career, has created a series of characters that breath life into his style and his practical jokes, witty and original, combined with the grace to grace it prints each of their excellent performances.
In his radio program Antioqueña recalls coffee Montecristo, at 1:30 PM so successful that it came up four times to repeat the same day. And never, not even when he was in a wheelchair victim of polyneuritis, stopped doing his live program.

It was quite popular for his radio program The Adventures of Montecristo personified in which among other scores, Montecristina, Montecristote, Montecrisñato, Montecristeso, Montecrispucho and many more characters for over fifty years did laugh Colombians.
Montecristo died on October 17 1997 at the age of 73, victim of cancer.
In one of his jokes, recounted the story of a country, very proud of it: I left my mule Pereira at eight o'clock and arrives at Anserma at 9. A few hours in Santa Barbara, the one in Envigado Medellin and upon entering I noticed that the mule was as Maluco. The animal fell to the ground and how much I was scared I called the vet. He considered, he opened one eye, looked at me and told me very sad. The mule is dead from Pereira ...
With countless victories both nationally and internationally and 50 years of artistic life developed in the three major broadcast networks such as Colombia: Caracol Todelar and RCN have had a beloved character in MONTECRISTO daily Colombian families, it is the person who has done more to laugh and Colombians finally been enshrined as one of the largest American Comedians of all time.
